Welcome to 5th grade ELA! We have many wonderful books planned for this year. Some of the novels we will read are:

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
The Templeton Twins Have an Idea
Wonderstruck
Frindle
The Birchbark House

We will use these novels to learn many fifth grade skills. Some examples are summarizing, main idea, finding text evidence, theme, comparing and contrasting, and finding the meaning of figurative language. Students will learn to write narrative, informational, and opinion essays.

We will learn many interesting things about Tennessee in fifth grade. In social studies, we will focus on learning about our great state of Tennessee and the part Tennessee played in United States history.
